Generals Race Past Bruins, 10-1, on Tuesday Night

Tunnel Hill, Ga. - The Heritage Generals softball team picked up a region win on the road at Northwest Whitfield on Tuesday night. The Generals pounded out 14 hits and scored 10 runs in the victory.

Heritage improves to 10-2-1 overall and 5-1 in region play. Northwest falls to 7-12 on the season and 3-3 in region play. The two sides will continue their three-game series on Thursday, Sep. 14 in Ringgold.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Macie Collins opened the scoring with her first home run of the season, giving Heritage a 1-0 lead in the third inning.

The Generals would go on to score two more in the fourth and three in the sixth. The final blow came in the seventh with a four-run frame. A leadoff double from Brylee Pritchett and a two-run home run from Macie Collins capped an offensive outburst for Heritage, who scored double-digit runs for just the second time this season.

All nine Heritage hitters recorded a hit while four recorded multi-hit outings. Five different Generals drove in a run with Collins and Harper Carstens each driving in three.

Addie Edwards earned the win in another complete game effort on the heels of her perfect game against Sonoraville on Aug. 29. Edwards tied a season high with 14 strikeouts in seven innings of work while scattering four hits and allowing one unearned run.
