Generals Secure Series Sweep with Late Inning Comeback Over Ringgold

Aug 16, 2023

Three runs on four hits in the seventh inning sealed the comeback for Heritage.

Ringgold, Ga. - The Heritage Generals softball team overcame a 3-0 deficit with a three-run seventh inning, earning a seventh consecutive win over rival Ringgold.

The Generals move to 3-0 on the season and complete the series sweep over the Tigers. Ringgold falls to 1-4 overall and has dropped each of its last three games.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Ringgold opened the scoring in the bottom of the first with a three-run home run from Maddy Lee. A leadoff single and a hit by pitch brought Lee to the plate with a pair of runners on base. She finished the game 2-for-3 and drove in all three Ringgold runs.

Heritage broke through for a run in the top of the fifth. Alexis Faulkenberry reached on an infield single, and an errant throw allowed Jenna Ryans to score and cut the Tigers’ lead to two.

Down to their final three outs the Generals collected four hits to take the lead. A leadoff walk from Landry White and a pair of groundouts put a runner in scoring position for Brylee Pritchett, who singled home White and cut the lead to one. Back-to-back RBI knocks from Bailee Hollis and Harper Carstens gave Heritage the lead for good.

Addie Edwards earned the win in relief after tossing 2.2 scoreless innings with six strikeouts.
