Aug 22, 2023

Addie Edwards shut down the Lions' offense as the Generals kick off the region slate with a win.

RINGGOLD - The Heritage Generals softball team opened its Region 7-AAAA schedule with a 3-0 win over defending champion Central on Tuesday night at the Heritage Softball Complex.

Heritage improves to 6-1-1 overall and 1-0 in the region after winning its fifth-straight region opener. Central drops to 4-4 on the year and 0-1 in region play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Generals opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the first. Brylee Pritchett opened the bottom half with an infield single and would later score on Harper Carstens’ RBI triple to deep right field. Macie Collins would cap off the frame with an RBI ground out to score Carstens.

HHS would add a run in the bottom of the third thanks to an RBI double from Ella Blansit. The two-out two-base hit was her team-best third of the season.

Addie Edwards earned the win in a complete game effort. The junior struck out eight and scattered two hits over seven innings of work while notching her 20th career complete game (third of the season). Edwards has not allowed an earned run in her first 34.0 innings of the season.
