Heritage Blasts Miller Grove to Open Postseason Play

RINGGOLD - The Heritage Generals softball team moved one step closer to another Elite Eight trip after earning a 20-0 win over Miller Grove to open the GHSA Class AAAA Heritage Super Regional on Wednesday afternoon.

The Generals earned their 13th-straight win while improving their record to 22-2-1 on the year. Miller Grove falls to 13-6 on the season and will play the loser of East Forsyth/Hampton at 7:00 on Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Generals blew the game open early thanks to a 14-run first inning that saw the offense bat around twice and strike for 12 hits.

All nine starters in the General lineup recorded a hit and an RBI while six produced multi-hit games. Abbie Young (1-for-2, 2B) led the way with a career-high tying four RBI. Harper Carstens added three RBI in a 3-for-3 performance.

The offense also struck for six extra-base hits, including a pair of inside-the-park home runs from Brylee Pritchett and Bailee Hollis. Hollis led the team with six total bases after going 3-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI. 

Kelsey Anderson earned her fifth win of the season after tossing 3.0 innings and striking out four.

Heritage (22-2-1, 14-1 7-AAAA) awaits the winner of No. 2 East Forsyth and No. 3 Hampton in the winner’s bracket final at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Generals are two wins away from clinching a sixth consecutive trip to the Elite Eight.
