Heritage Downs LFO, 4-1

Aug 17, 2023

Macie Collins, Bailee Hollis, and Brylee Pritchett led the offensive effort in the win.

Fort Oglethorpe, Ga. - The Heritage Generals softball team had to use a late rally for the second time in as many nights to secure a victory. The Generals scored four runs in the final two innings to down LFO, 4-1.

The Generals improve to 4-0 on the season and sweep their Catoosa County rivals for the first time since 2020. LFO falls to below .500, dropping to 2-3 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

LFO opened up the scoring by scratching across an unearned run in the bottom of the fifth. Mylee Howard singled to lead off the frame and would come across to score on an RBI sacrifice bunt by Makia Matthews.

That would be all Addie Edwards would surrender after another outstanding outing. The junior tossed six innings of one-run ball and struck out a season-high nine batters in the win.

Heritage answered with three runs of their own in the sixth. Brylee Pritchett and Harper Carstens each singled and Macie Collins delivered the big blow in the form of a one-out double off the center field wall. A throwing error by the LFO defense allowed the Generals to plate a third run in the inning as they took a late lead.

Bailee Hollis added an insurance run with her team-leading fourth RBI of the season. She singled home Bree Wilson to extend the Heritage lead to 4-1.

Molly O’Brien earned the save in her varsity debut. The freshman needed just nine pitches to retire the LFO offense and give Heritage its fourth win of the season.
