Oct 3, 2023

The Generals moved one step closer to their tenth region title with the Monday night win.

RINGGOLD - The Heritage Generals softball team earned a series victory over the Sonoraville Phoenix after taking the decisive game three, 4-1, on Monday night.

Heritage improves to 18-2-1 with the win while Sonoraville drops to 15-8 on the season. The Generals also ran their region record to 11-1 as they are one win away from capturing their tenth region title in program history.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Heritage broke the scoreless tie with a run in the bottom of the second. Three singles in the inning, including an RBI knock from Bree Wilson that ricocheted off the shortstop’s glove gave the Generals the early lead.

Sonoraville was gifted an unearned run in the top of the third to tie the game. A pair of fielding errors extended the inning and allowed the Phoenix to plate their lone run of the game.

The Generals went ahead for good in the bottom half of the third. Landry White struck a two-out triple into the left-center field gap to give her team the lead. Abbie Young added an insurance run one batter later with a line drive single to plate White.

Addie Edwards tied her career-high with her 13th win of the season in a complete game effort. The right-hander allowed two hits in seven innings and struck out nine. In her last five outings, which span 25.0 innings, she has allowed just six hits and struck out 41.
