The Heritage Generals softball team suffered a tough extra inning loss to Wesleyan before defeating Cass, 8-0, in five innings.
Chattanooga, Tenn. - The Heritage Generals softball team split a Friday doubleheader at Warner Park in Chattanooga, Tennessee as part of the Gordon Lee SCORE Tournament. HHS fell, 3-1, in eight innings to Wesleyan before defeating Cass, 8-0, in the night cap.
Heritage ends the week at 3-1 before jumping into the remainder of their region schedule. The Generals carry a 12-5 overall record and 6-1 region mark into next week’s games against Southeast Whitfield.
GAME 1 RECAP
With the game still scoreless heading into the seventh inning, the game entered into an international tiebreaker. Wesleyan scores first after a sacrifice fly from Marjee Williams.
Heritage would answer thanks to an RBI single from Jenna Ryans that scored Emily Holcomb. Ryans collected her team-leading 13th RBI on the season, and remains the only General with double digit RBI.
A Heritage fielding error proved to be the difference in the contest, though. An errant throw in a rundown situation allowed two Wesleyan runners to score, putting the Wolves up 3-1.
