Heritage Uses Seven-Run Fifth to Top Southeast

RINGGOLD - The Heritage Generals softball team extended its season-best win streak to seven consecutive games with a 9-1 win over Southeast Whitfield on Thursday night at the Heritage Softball Complex.

Heritage is now 15-2-1 on the season and improved its Region 7-AAAA record to 8-1. Southeast Whitfield falls to 1-13-11 on the year and 0-9 in region play. The Generals also extended its home winning streak to 17 consecutive games. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

Each team scored runs in the first inning with Heritage owning a 2-1 lead after the opening frame. A one-out triple from Chyann Blevins and a subsequent RBI single from Piper Shoemake gave Southeast its first run of the ball game.

Heritage followed with back-to-back singles from Brylee Pritchett and Bailee Hollis set the stage for a big inning from the Generals. Harper Carstens brought home the tying run after reaching on an infield single, and Macie Collins gave HHS the lead with her second sacrifice fly of the season.

The score remained the same up until a seven-run fifth inning secured the victory for Heritage. Jenna Ryans, Landry White, and Bree Wilson each drove in two runs in the frame, giving the Generals a 9-1 win.

Bailee Hollis earned the win in her second outing of the season. The southpaw tossed two hitless innings and struck out one in relief of Kelsey Anderson (1.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 SO) and Addie Edwards (2.0 IP, 0 H, 1 SO).
