HHS Picks Up Rivalry Win to Open 2023 Season

Aug 8, 2023

Addie Edwards fanned eight over five innings and the Generals used a three-run fourth inning to seal the victory.

RINGGOLD - The Heritage Generals softball team earned their sixth-consecutive win over crosstown rival Ringgold with a 3-1 triumph over the Tigers on Tuesday night.

The Generals move to 1-0 on the season and have won 14 of 16 season openers in the program's history. Ringgold drops to 1-3 on the season after the loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Heritage opened the scoring in the bottom of the fourth after three scoreless frames from Ringgold starter Emorie Coles. Back-to-back singles from Macie Collins and Jenna Ryans and a five-pitch walk to Landry White loaded the bases for Bree Wilson. Wilson would single home Collins to break the scoreless tie and give Heritage a 1-0 lead.

Bailee Hollis would pad the lead one batter later with a 2-RBI single through the right side. She would finish the game 2-for-3, collecting her 16th career multi-hit game in the process.

Addie Edwards earned the win after a dominant one-hit outing. She finished with eight strikeouts over five innings before giving the ball to Kelsey Anderson. Anderson allowed one run over two innings of work and struck out three to earn her second career save.
