Region Champs: Heritage Regains Region Supremacy with Win Over Central

Oct 3, 2023

The Generals’ win on Tuesday night clinched their tenth region championship in program history.

RINGGOLD - The Heritage Generals softball team used a stellar no-hit performance from Addie Edwards to capture its tenth region championship and its first since 2020 with a 1-0 win over Central on Tuesday night at the Heritage Softball Complex.

The Generals improved to 19-2-1 overall and won its 12th region game of the season. HHS has won 12 or more region games in each of the last five years and seven times in the program’s history.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Edwards and Central starter Lexi Warren pitched to a scoreless tie through the first two innings of play as both offenses were limited to just one hit combined.

The Generals were able to plate the game’s first run in the bottom of the third. After Brylee Pritchett reached base on a hit by pitch, Bailee Hollis smacked a single to right to put runners on the corners with one away. Harper Carstens was able to get the softball airborne and drove in the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly.

That run would hold up as Addie Edwards tossed her third no-hitter of the season while facing just one batter over the minimum. Edwards tossed two perfect games earlier in the year against Sonoraville (Aug. 29) and Cedartown (Sep. 26).
